VAMUS Algarve installs first automatic ticket kiosks

The transport company’s new kiosks provide information in Portuguese and English and accept all bank cards

The new VAMUS – Transportes do Algarve automatic ticket kiosks are up and running. The first kiosks were installed at Faro Airport (next to the Bus Stop) and at the Faro, Lagos, Albufeira and Tavira Bus Terminals.

These new machines enable passengers to purchase tickets in advance and charge bus passes or prepaid cards at these locations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The Algarve-wide transport company’s new kiosks provide information in Portuguese and English, accepting payment with all bank cards.

In the coming weeks, automatic kiosks will also be installed at the Loulé Bus Station, Quarteira Bus Station and at the Aqua Shopping Center in Portimão.

The next step will be to add options at the kiosks allowing the purchase of transport tickets for urban networks such as VAI e VEM in Portimão, A ONDA in Lagos or GIRO in Albufeira.

«Although the VAMUS ALGARVE app has already conquered thousands of users, the truth is that a large part of passengers continues to favour the use of physical tickets. For this reason, the new kiosks are a good way to eliminate queues and save passengers time and money», says the company. It also points out that the prepaid cards offer discounts between 10 and 50 per cent on the purchase of trips valid on the entire VAMUS ALGARVE network.
