Valverde Lawn Bowls Club, Almancil, won the Bowls Algarve Cameron Cup on Tuesday, November 29. This is a knockout competition with each club fielding two teams of four. One team plays their match at home whilst at the same time the other team plays away. Shot difference decides the winner.
Valverde beat Tavira and Balaia in the earlier rounds, and then met Floresta in the final. The home team of Sue Hunt, Helen Scott, Alan Hyatt and John Denn won their match by 8 shots.
At Praia da Luz, the away team of Margaret Wilson, Dora Wallace, Peter Wilson and Geoff Drewer fought well to lose by only 3 shots on the difficult artificial carpet green.
With a winning difference of 5 shots, Valverde took the cup. Well done to team captain Margaret Wilson and all who played in the teams.
