Earlier this month, Valverde Lawn Bowls Club in Almancil held its Spring Pairs competition sponsored by Ibex Insurance.
Club chairman David Russell welcomed twenty-four pairs to the event. He remarked that this trophy had never been won by Valverde members. This year was no exception: first place went to Terry Ewart and Mike Portway from Essex.
The runners up were Keith and Penny Henley of Valverde who were just two points behind. In third place were Gavin Alderman and Chris Wright of Canela Bowls Club. Fourth were Ken Rawlins and Alan Hyatt of Valverde. The trophies were presented by Janet Tartaglia of Ibex Insurance.
It was a great day’s bowls played in lovely sunshine and marked the start of our summer season.
