On Friday, November 13, the final of the President’s Shield competition took place at Valverde Lawn Bowls Club in Almancil.
This is a singles two bowl knockout competition.
The final was between club captain Paul Frampton and Dora Drewer. Paul started well and was soon five shots to nil, but Dora found the line and gradually clawed back the shots and was eventually first to reach the 15 shots needed to win the match. The standard of bowls played by both bowlers was terrific.
Club vice president Helen Scott presented the shield and was very pleased that there will now be a lady’s name on the trophy.
