Valverde Lawn Bowls Club in Almancil held its Spring Pairs competition on Sunday (March 13). Thirty-two pairs entered and were rewarded with a glorious sunny day. The generous prizes were donated by Valverde’s new sponsor, Alan Belcher of Private Fund Management, Almancil.
The competition winners were Alain Grenier and Paul Frampton of Valverde with a score of 49 points. Paul has been playing for less than a year and this is their first competition pairing. Val and Alwyn Challacombe of Pedras Bowls Club took second place, just two points adrift. Pedras players also took third and fourth places.
Valverde is now in the middle of its tour group matches with visiting teams from England, Wales and Scotland.
New bowlers are welcome to join the club.
