Valverde Bowls Club celebrated their first anniversary on October 18 with an Open Pairs Competition.
Representatives of Clubs from each end of the Algarve played a most competitive game, helped by the good weather.
“In the one year it has been operating, Valverde Bowls Club has not had a moment to “twiddle thumbs” – along with normal bowling activities, and as the outdoor clubs in the UK close for the winter, bowls tours from the UK arrive to enjoy the Algarve’s sun, and we hope they take away with them memories of a friendly and well run club,” said a spokesman for the Valverde Bowls Club.
Winners of the Anniversary Trophy were: First: Jenny and Gerry Jones, Second: Terry Kerr and Jeff Perry, Third: John Denn and Gui Gomes, Fourth: Pat and Nick Purkiss.
Valverde’s sponsor is David Hills Insurance of Almancil.
