Valverde Lawn Bowls Club, Almancil, held their Club Championships on Saturday, March 25. For once the Algarve weather disappointed, but despite a cool wind and rain showers a good crowd of members and visitors turned out to support the finalists.
The men’s singles was won by Chris Thatcher who beat Graham Martin 21-16. Sue Hunt and Lorna Hallet had a close match in the ladies singles, Lorna winning by 21-18.
Stuart Banks and Peter Wilson beat Peter Hollis and Jen Preece in the drawn pairs. In the Australian Pairs, Chris Thatcher had his second win of the day when he and partner Paul Frampton defeated Chrissie Thatcher and Derek Scott.
The triples was won by Alan Hyatt, Jennie Preza and John Denn who beat Carol Barnes, Alain Grenier and Jack Romano.
Winners’ trophies and runner up medals were presented by club president David Russell.
