Also known as the Samaritan’s Purse, the Christmas Shoebox Appeal is aimed at providing gifts to disadvantaged children in poverty stricken parts of the world.
This year was no exception when Vale Verde International School students near Lagos packed their decorated shoeboxes full of sweets, toys and stationery – every day commodities which are a luxury for the underprivileged in many parts of the world – to be sent off for distribution.
David Wright, who owns freight company New Concept International in Almancil, has offered to deliver the boxes free of charge to the official drop-off point in Basildon, Essex, from where they will be distributed to their final destinations.
