Vale Judeu hosts Bethlehem Village Experience

A different, “more authentic” kind of Christmas experience, the Vale Judeu Bethlehem Village, will take place at the International Evangelical Church in Vale Judeu, Loulé this weekend (December 4-6), and is completely free of charge.

“Imagine a little village that existed long before coloured lights, reindeer, or Santa Claus,” write organisers.

“Roman soldiers walk the streets, Wise Men appear with their camels, shopkeepers are going about their everyday lives yet this village is on the brink of something immense, the birth of one who would forever change the course of human history. Experience this village as it really was. Come to Bethlehem and see for yourself the magic and wonder of the first Christmas.”

The event will feature the Salvation Army Band and a chance to meet, see and hear from everyone including the inn keeper, wise men and even King Herod in his palace.

There will also be a Christmas market selling gifts and crafts.

Last year, the village attracted 700 visitors and this year the hope is that “more people will have the opportunity to experience it”.

Doors open between 4pm-7pm on Friday and Saturday, and 4pm-7pm on Sunday.
