MORE THAN 80 of the region’s finest bowlers have recently competed in the Vale do Lobo Lawn Bowling Club’s Super 10’s Competition. The finals were held at the recently formed club, based within the Vale do Lobo resort.
The Parque da Floresta and Santo António Clubs demonstrated to their supporters some fine lawn green bowling, with the Santo António Club emerging as worthy winners by a margin of six shots, after each team had won two games in this exciting format.
Vale do Lobo bowling director, Richard Hepburn, has promised to make this competition a permanent fixture in the local bowling calendar. With around 50 new bowlers among his membership, including Portuguese, British, Chinese, Dutch, German and Indian nationals, Richard hopes it won’t be long before his own team are taking part in the final of this event. “We continue to encourage people of all ages and of either sex to compete on equal terms in our sport, by running an ongoing coaching programme. As well as learning to play, both residents and visitors can meet up with new friends regularly. All are welcome to join us,” he said.
