The Wolf Valley Charity Day held in Vale do Lobo on June 2 raised a staggering €38,000, which will go towards helping local worthy causes.
The Algarvian weather, an ideal sun and cool breeze, enabled all to relax and enjoy the stalls, entertainment and activities of the afternoon at the Parque do Golfe and Spikes Restaurant.
With both the Royal and Ocean courses in play, more than 180 participants enjoyed their game before supporting a family day with music by the Algarve Juniors and Jazz Band.
The charity day is the Wolf Valley Charity Fund’s major fundraising event of the year.
This is achieved not only by the generosity of those attending on the day but also by the support of local businesses who contribute through advertising in the charity day brochure and by donating prizes.

A spokesman for the charity said: “In the past year, we have completed the furnishing of the old people’s home in Almancil, provided storage and handling facilities for the Banco Alimentar contra a Fome, which supplies essential food items for those in need, and purchased air-conditioning/heating for the premises of Existir, the centre for the physically disabled in Loulé.
“In the past, much of our funding was directed towards large capital items, for example, specially adapted vehicles to transport the disabled. Now as a result of the economic situation, the requests for assistance that we receive from local charities are more numerous and for more basic items to enable their good work to continue.”
