Vaccines against seasonal flu will start being administered in Portugal from October 4. The DGS health directorate has announced it has purchased 2.24 million doses of vaccines for the coming winter – 146,000 more than purchased last year. Each vaccine against flu costs the State €7.95. In interview with Público DGS health chief Graça Freitas said she is confident there will be enough vaccines to go round. People encouraged to take up these vaccines are the elderly, the chronically ill, health professionals and pregnant women.
