Vaccine ‘open house for over-35s’ (as long as you’re a man…)

Portugal’s vaccination task force has sent out a rather odd message today. The Open House policy (allowing people without vaccination appointments to walk into any health centre and be vaccinated) is now open, it says, to the over-35s. But all those responding will receive the one-shot Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine – and this is not recommended for women under the age of 50. In other words, the Open House policy right now may be equipped to accommodate age groups of 35 or above, but it would be better for anyone taking it up to be a man.
