Vaccine effectiveness against Omicron falls to between 52%-72% unless ‘boosted’

Ana Paula Rodrigues of INSA (the public health institute Dr Ricardo Jorge) has told this morning’s Covid status report meeting at Infarmed that vaccine effectiveness against Omicron falls to between 52% – 72% “depending on the time that has passed since inoculation”. This is the reason why authorities are so keen for people to take-up the offer of booster shots. Understanding is that booster shots beef immunity up to 88% (if only temporarily).
