Following on from their recent narrow defeat against the Wales Veterans, the East Algarve Veterans, a spin-off from the ever-expanding East Algarve Walking Football, entertained Uxley Echo FC (Uxbridge, Middlesex) at the Estádio da Nora, Ferreiras, Albufeira, in a game of normal eleven-a-side football.
An evenly balanced first-half was edged by East Algarve but the visitors came into their own after the break. A strong East Algarve defence was tested by a young very well organised Uxley Echo and it took a controversial penalty to separate the two teams as Uxley Echo slotted home from the spot to secure a single goal victory.
