UV alert

Twelve regions were on high alert this week over ultraviolet radiation levels. IPMA, the Portuguese institute of sea and atmosphere, warned people to be on their guard despite the cloud cover as the risk – which has five levels going from low to extreme – reached ‘very high’. People were warned to wear hats, sunglasses and sun protection.
