US Visa applications

AS OF March 19 all people wanting to apply for non-immigration visas to the United States of America will have to book their application online.

Information required by consular services will include the date and hour of their intended visit to the consulate.

The new measure will not imply any increase in the usual consular fees and is intended to improve the visa service to the public.

Under the Exemption from Visas Programme, Portuguese and United Kingdom citizens wishing to visit the United States for less than 90 days for tourist or business purposes do not require a visa.

For those nationals who do require a visa they should go to the embassy’s webpage and fill out the form available online at http://portugal.usembassy.gov/ConsDocs/VISAS_NonImmigrantVisas.html, select ‘How can I request a visa?’ and then go to the instruction menu before sending the duly filled-out document. Those with doubts or needing more detailed instructions should consult the embassy’s website.
