US trip for award winners

THE ANNUAL American Club Awards Programme has been won by a Portuguese journalist and a computer programmer.

Journalist Caterina Gomes, who works for daily newspaper Público, won the award for her work on a project on juvenile delinquency in the US, which tackles new ways of dealing with the problem.

Computer analyst and programmer Hélder Pinto will join Caterina as two of six finalists who will go to the United States to develop and work on their projects.

The American Club Awards Programme is currently looking for sponsors to provide 5,500 euros a year for three years to help finance the continued success of the programme.

Interested companies can contact the American Club by email on: [email protected], or by calling 213 529 308.
