As from September 8 there will be a fee for Visa Waiver Program (VWP) travellers to the United States as announced by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
This fee of 14 US Dollars will be collected when travellers use the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and will be valid for two years and for multiple trips to the United States.
Money collected through the fee will be used to promote the US as a travel destination for overseas visitors and will be matched by private sector contributions as part of the Travel Promotion Act of 2009.
Existing ESTA approvals completed before September 8 will continue to be valid until the date of expiry.
