Urban sketchers draw Portugal’s heritage

Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes in Portimão will host an exhibition featuring eight sketches of landmarks that were created as part of the “(a)Riscar o Património 2022” project.

Launched in 2014 by the national board of cultural heritage (DGPC), the project brings together artists to draw sketches of local landmarks across the country.

“The sketches on display at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes were created on the spot, in different sizes and types of notebooks, capturing places, landscapes, people, moments and monuments, always inspired by heritage,” says the local council in a communiqué to the press.

According to organisers, the exhibition showcases the “extraordinary richness of the world that surrounds us and our own capacity to interpret reality: it is for this very reason captivating for all audiences.”

The exhibition is organised in collaboration with architecture students from the Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes and the regional delegation of Urban Sketchers.

It can be visited between January 31 and February 25 at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, open Monday through Friday from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Admission is free.
