Portimão’s municipal assembly has approved plans for development in Sitio das Taipas, Portimão, which includes the construction of a 60,666sqm shopping centre.
According to ACRAL, the association for services and commerce in the Algarve, the new shopping centre will “suffocate” local businesses and shops.
In a statement sent to the Algarve Resident, ACRAL said: “For every job that is created in a large shopping centre, four are lost in local businesses.”
