Tragic news just in reports that the missing 62-year-old “geocacher” has been found just 50 metres from his car in the natural park of Serra de Aire e Candeeiro, near Leiria.
As we reported earlier today, an all-day search for the Tomar man yesterday (Sunday) resulted in nothing.
The search resumed this morning at which point a police dog located the man’s body, in dense undergrowth, just a few metres from his parked car.
It is thought to have been there for the last few days, reports SOL website.
An investigation into how and why the man died is now in place.
Over 30 police and rescue workers were on his trail after he failed to turn up at a point in the ‘treasure trail’ where his wife had agreed to meet him.
