Up up and away

Low cost airline Ryanair has said that the number of passengers it transported was up by 13 per cent last year compared with 2008, with a total of 65 million people having flown with the company.

According to a statement from Ryanair sent to the Algarve Resident, the company broke a new monthly record in July 2009 by transporting six million people in a single month, which was repeated each month until October.

To celebrate another year of growth, the airline made one million flights available for a total of eight euros per passenger until January 10 for trips made until the end of February.

Ryanair spokesman Daniel de Carvalho said: “With 65 million passengers transported by Ryanair in 2009, we are confident that even more passengers will opt for our guaranteed low prices in 2010.”
