Ryan Bingham (Clooney) is constantly on the move. His job as a corporate downsizing expert means that he is the man who comes into your office and tells you that you are fired.
After years of travelling across the USA firing people as he goes along, he has become a hard character full of false compassion, yet he loves his life living out of a suitcase and being immersed in a world of hostility.
When his job and very existence is threatened by a new employee, a trip to show her why he needs to keep his job exposes the truth of his world and the disheartening realities of his way of life.
