Up and up

Farense are putting the finishing touches to their 2013/2014 squad with the clear aim of achieving a third successive promotion – this time back to the country’s top tier.

The club’s latest signing is experienced midfielder ‘Neca’ – aka João Alexandre Duarte Ferreira Fernandes – who has returned to Portugal from Turkish side Konyaspor. The now 33-year-old has represented his country at youth, U-21 and full international level and has played for Belenenses, Vitória de Guimarães, Maritimo and Vitória de Setúbal during his career.

Farense, whom Faro Câmara has granted two pieces of land totalling 5,300 square metres to develop training facilities, have three warm-up games scheduled this month – Portimonense on July 10, Yeovil Town on July 13 and Sporting Braga on July 18.Skip Bandele
