Only 10 of the 2,500 people registered as candidates to adopt children are willing to home a child with disabilities, according to data revealed by the national adoption lists.
It also revealed that only four candidates are willing to adopt a child with severe health problems.
The data shows that candidates prefer to adopt white children, especially girls up to the age of three, with children over the age of 15 finding it most difficult to find a new family.
