Unsafe toys

ALMOST 35,000 children’s toys have been seized since January 2006 for not meeting safety regulations or not using the proper labelling information.

A spokesperson from ASAE, the national authority for economic activities and food control, said inspections on toys shops happen on a regular basis, although they are more frequent in periods like the Christmas season.

He also said that despite most of the toys sold in Portugal being imported, Portuguese manufacturers are also being inspected by the ASAE.
