Lagoa is hosting the 14th Choir Week (Semana Coral de Lagoa) from May 6 to 13 in the council.
Organised by Lagoa Câmara and
Ideias do Levante, the cultural association of Lagoa that brings people together through the performing arts, the Choir Week is an event that unites singers from throughout the region to present an eventful agenda of melodies.
Throughout the years, the event has grown from being a small feature for Lagoa to become one of the top choir festivals in Portugal.
This Sunday (May 6) the week will kick start with a performance by Lagoa’s Coro de Lua and Coro JIL and Portimão’s Coro do CLCC at the Convento S. José at 5.30pm.
Performances will then continue on May 10 and 11 at the Lagoa Municipal Auditorium with The Little Mermaid opera, starting at 8pm.
Also at the Auditorium on May 13, the International Choir of Aljezur, the Ideias do Levante Choir and a selection of soloists will give a performance at 5.30pm.
Entrance to all the performances is free but tickets must be reserved beforehand by calling 282 380 434.
