Uniting for International Children’s Day

Children from the International School of the Algarve were joined by girls from the Casa Nossa Senhora  de Conceição care home in Portimão to enjoy a special circus day in celebration of International Children’s Day on June 1.

All the children from the bilingual pre-school, the children from the International Infants section and from the National Primária were greeted at the school gates by a stilt walker with the rest of the day divided into a series of circus themed workshops including, Clowns and Bubbles, Circus Skills, Juggling and Face Painting.

The children from the school and the care home were then able to watch a performance by Circo Pequeno and then a light show to finish the celebrations of the day.

Head teacher John Butterworth said: “We invited 34 children from the Casa Nossa Senhora de Conceição girls care home in Portimão along with their 17 teachers, carers and supervising Sisters.

“The visitors joined in the fun enthusiastically and really had a day to remember while it gave an extra dimension to the event for the children of the school as they shared their school and Circus Day with other children much less fortunate than themselves”, he added.
