According to data released today by IEFP (the institute of employment and professional training) there are another 104,000 people registered as unemployed than there were this time last year. In percentage terms, figures for January nationally saw an increase in unemployment of 30% compared to January 2020. But taken by regions this number jumps to 61.3% in the Algarve where the increase in unemployment, notwithstanding 100% lay-off, has been “more expressive”.
