UNEMPLOYMENT DURING the last quarter of 2006 climbed by 0.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2005, settling at 8.2 per cent according to the latest statistics released by the National Statistics Institute. The average unemployment rate in 2006 was 7.7 per cent.
