Unemployed challenged

Portugal’s Minister of Agriculture António Serrano has challenged the unemployed in the country to take up jobs in the agriculture sector.

“I would like to see more unemployed people take up the opportunities that the agriculture industry has been creating. There are many jobs available in this sector and we should not need to use manpower from outside the country,” he said, suggesting that employers are having difficulty finding Portuguese people who want to work in the industry and therefore are having to hire foreign immigrants.
