Underground park gets cheaper

news: Underground park gets cheaper

The underground car park located at the municipal market of Faro will now be managed by Faro municipality after the previous company that managed the park rescinded its contract “for operational reasons”.

The first measure taken was reducing the tariff to make it more “appealing”.

The first hour of use is free and thereafter charges will be made in fractions of 15 minutes. Whoever uses the car park for two hours pays €0.80 in the evening and € 1.15 in the daytime.

In a press release, Faro Câmara revealed that from February 1, the car park is officially in the hands of the municipal company managing the market, although this is a temporary situation.

“Aware of the difficulties that could result from the temporary suspension of the facility, the administration board of the municipal market (Administração da Mercado Municipal de Faro E.M.) has decided to manage the car park, under a transitional regime, until a public tender is launched,” said the municipality .

The municipality could not close the car park because it is considered to be “an essential facility for all the activities held in the market”.
