Manager Daúto Faquirá goes into Sunday’s home game with Feirense knowing that a win could propel the team into the top four.
Last week management and players made a surprise visit to the Municipal Markets in Olhão where they were enthusiastically received.
Fishmonger José Manuel Próspero, a socio-member for many years, promised the team a box of fish each and a special seafood dinner if they qualified for Europe.
The players signed autographs and posed for photographs.
Centre-forward Wilson Eduardo was away helping the Portugal U21 team to an important 2-0 win against Moldova in Tiraspol in the UEFA Qualifying Championships and 19 year-old Salvador Agra, in sparkling form since signing from Varzim, was called-up to the Under 21 national squad for the game with France on Wednesday.
Dady (Cape Verde) and Ivanildo (Guinea Bissau) were also on international duty.
Centre-back Mexer (on loan from Sporting) was in the Mozambique squad that lost 1-0 in the historic game against Libya.
The game, played in Cairo, was the first under the new regime and the Libyan players turned out in an all-white kit featuring the country’s new flag.
Olhanense should be at full strength, with the exception of Ismaily serving a one-match ban, for Sunday’s game against the newly promoted team from the Aveiro District in the north.
Kick-off is 5pm and tickets priced from €12.50 to €30 can be purchased on the day.
