AROUND 250 students from 15 schools are expected to attend the 12th anniversary of the Iberian Model United Nations Conference in the Centro Cultural de Belém, which begins today (Friday) and continues until Sunday.
The Model United Nations is designed to teach students about the structure and functions of the United Nations and the US Ambassador to Portugal, Dr Alfred Hoffman Jr, is due to give the keynote address. Issues that will be debated include the prohibition of weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, peaceful uses of space and human rights.
