Ukrainian refugees: 1670 requests for temporary protection received as of Monday

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Portuguese authorities have received 1,670 requests for temporary protection. More are expected as the number of refugees leaving Ukraine have already topped 1.5 million. According to data collected by SEF borders agency, 1514 of the requests come from Ukrainian nationals,but there are others from Russians, Turkish nationals, Americans, Lithuanians, even from Afghans. As the Council of Ministers has already explained, people receiving temporary protection will receive authorisations of residency for a year, with the possibility of extending them twice, for periods of six months each (click here). Thousands of job opportunities have also been collated, ensuring incoming refugees will be able to work towards their own autonomy.
