The Ukrainian association UA.PT is creating a recovery centre in Ourém for Ukraine’s war wounded. It will be the first project of its kind in Europe, explain reports today – the plan being to provide medical care to Ukrainians who arrive in Portugal with injuries, thus freeing the SNS health service from this responsibility. The association is currently renovating a property that has stood empty for the past decade, and which has been ceded free of charges for the next seven years. Renovation works will be starting in March, with UA.PT hoping to receive the first patients in the spring. Capacity should run, once everything has been completed, to between 100-150 beds.
