AFPOP is negotiating with the Madrid General Consulate to create a drop off and collection point in the association’s premises in Portimão for British citizens’ passports.
The project is primarily dedicated to help AFPOP members renew their passports in a safe and easy system. At a later stage, it is expected this facility may be opened to non members.
According to Michael Reeve, the proposal is still being negotiated but “all is being taken into consideration, namely the security of the delivery procedures”. The date for this new system to be implemented has not been revealed as the preliminary aspects are still to be agreed with the General Consulate.
