UK passport changes

THE BRITISH embassy in Lisbon and all consulates in Portugal are no longer issuing UK passports since Portuguese and Spanish services were amalgamated last month to create a single issuing centre at the British Consulate-General in Madrid.

The administrative restructure means that people wishing to apply for a British Passport in Portugal must send their application to Madrid only, as this service has been made obsolete in all other embassies and consulates, including Portimão. As part of the reorganisation to improve efficiency, new passports can now be paid for using Visa and Mastercard. Forms can be acquired from www.uk-embassy.pt and applications should be sent to UK Passport Service Iberia, British Consulate-General, Paseo de Recoletos 7-9 Piso 4, 28004 Madrid, Spain.
