REGGAE BAND UB40 is confirmed to be performing at Albufeira’s Praia dos Pescadores this New Year’s Eve.
Portuguese band, Classificados, will be starting off the evening’s celebrations, followed by UB40 after a grand fireworks display.
Earlier this year UB40 hit the headlines when lead singer, Ali Campbell quit after thirty years. The group didn’t have to look far to replace him however, choosing Ali’s own brother, Duncan, to fill the slot. Ali claimed to have left so that he could devote more time to his solo career. A spokesman said at the time, “Ali Campbell has taken the decision to focus on his solo career and in doing so, could not give his full commitment to UB40”.
Throughout the history of UB40, the band has continued to popularise reggae around the world, with hits such as Red Red Wine, Rat in the Kitchen and I Can’t Help Falling in Love.
