Two doctors and seven funeral directors arrested in ‘Operation Rigor Mortis’

PJ police in Bragança have arrested two doctors and seven funeral directors today after searches of 29 homes and business premises. The probe, dubbed ‘Rigor Mortis’, is investigating alleged crimes of ‘undue receipt of advantage’, corruption, IT and document falsification. The contention is that the doctors received payment for  “signing and delivering dozens of death certificates and respective authorisation for the transport of corpses without practising the medical acts incumbent on them”.
