Tuesday Covid bulletin: Sky-high cases but almost just as many recoveries

Today’s DGS Covid bulletin has been highlighted for the ‘enormous number of cases’ and unusually high death count (46). There are still manageable numbers of people suffering from Covid-19 in hospitals (1,955 of which 160 are in intensive care), but numbers are putting strain on health services because so many are themselves suffering from ‘staff members off sick’ (having tested positive for SARS-CoV-2) or simply too few staff for the workload involved. The bulletin in full can be found here. Bottom line: 43,729 new cases, 42,055 ‘recovered’ in last 24-hours. Incidence has increased to 4155.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Rt is falling and now at 1.13
