The Troika is not looking at the fundamental real problems in Portugal, starting with an excessive number of politicians per capita and the real efficiency of the civil service, essential services, local government and an outdated legislation.
Maybe they don’t want to look too close as one of the politicians responsible for the situation Portugal is in is an ex-PM and now head of the EU Commission, Durão Barroso. We should ask the question, how and why he got to a post like that, seeing his results at the helm in Portugal.
Not only Portugal, but the EU and many countries have third-class politicians. The quality and competence is no longer there, and apart from losing the next elections, are totally unaccountable to citizens.
