Trick or treat at Marriott Halloween bash

news: Trick or treat at Marriott Halloween bash

The Lisbon Marriott hotel recently played host to more than 300 people from the local business community, for a special night of comedy for Halloween.

Brazilian stand-up comedian, Raul de Orofino, had the party-goers in stitches with his ‘talking heads’ routines as he deftly caricatured four stereotypical personalities including a gossiping fishwife-type personality, a colourful gay character, a trainer-clad teenager and a working class, sexist macho-man.

His routine, entitled ‘Mario, his humour’s in the closet’ had the audience in tears, as he selected victims from the front row to poke fun at with witty double entendres.

Sponsored by Brazilian airline, Varig, the guests then enjoyed a four-course sit down meal, in a dining room cleverly decorated with pumpkin masks and candles, red sashes and even tarot cards to get the guests in the ghostly mood.

The ladies were treated to goody bags containing make-up, cleverly concealed under their chairs, while some lucky people in the audience won prizes in a grand draw, including thousands of euros and trips to Brazil, New York and Paris.

Raul de Orofino says that his humour is designed to help people face with enthusiasm, the changes, challenges and crises that make up our everyday lives.

Popular on the comedy circuit in Brazil, Spain and Portugal the actor and female impersonator regularly entertains at conventions, product launches, corporate do’s, Christmas parties as well as charity events and self-motivation workshops.

“Laughing really is the best medicine and it is clinically proven that when we laugh we release those pleasure-creating endorphins that take away our physical and emotional pain, reinforce our immune systems and help us to think positively, clearly and creatively. This, in turn, can help us be more productive in our lives and work,” he says.
