August in the Algarve … Can you feel the energy? So many people. So many activities. It’s difficult not to get caught up in the wave of excitement.
By day, sun-worshippers swarm beaches, families flock to water parks and golfers gather on courses. In the evening, famished diners fill restaurants.
And, deep into the night, the party crowd packs nightclubs from Monte Gordo to Sagres. Indeed, there is no lack of places to go and people to meet.
But, always mindful to keep an eye out for something special, Portugal Confidential has recently been introduced to a few cool hotspots.
Popular Portuguese fashion designer Fátima Lopes brings glamour to summer in the Algarve with not one but two nightclubs!
Both are ventures in her successful Faces brand franchise that also includes the Faces Modeling Agency and the trendy Faces Chiado restaurant, both in Lisbon.
Faces Beach Restaurant and Lounge is a trés chic dining spot in the heart of Vilamoura on Caminho do Lago. The décor is minimal and contemporary with glass walls that fold open to allow for a full summer night experience.
Multi award-winning chef João Simões is in the kitchen supervising a menu of innovative Portuguese cuisine based on his menu from Faces in Lisbon.

After dinner, step outside the restaurant and into a sophisticated poolside terrace lounge. Couches and bean bags are peppered around the landscaped gardens for hanging out with friends or intimate conversations with someone special.
The night air is filled with rhythmic beats of DJs playing hypnotic lounge tracks. It is a sophisticated place for mingling, far from the crowds at the marina bars.
When it’s time to turn up the volume, Faces Beach Club Disco invites you to dance long into the morning hours. This is a separate facility in the AquaShow complex on the EN396 (between Loulé and Quarteira).
This space of 2000 square metres is built for pure dancing debauchery. Thirty themed parties are planned for the 30 days Faces Disco is open.
Another must-do stop on the list of hot night spots is Bliss Vilamoura. This open air club was built especially for Algarve party nights.
It sits In the grounds of the Hipódromo de Vilamoura (on the Estrada da Albufeira, between Vilamoura marina and Albufeira). Throughout the year, equestrians on stallions jump obstacles on this land. But in August, young trendsters dance to the beat of national and international DJs spinning techno and house tracks.

If you’re thinking of going to Faces or Bliss….think fast! Summer nights are dwindling. Both clubs will close August 21.
