THE CEREMONY to mark the signing of the Treaty of Lisbon on December 13 in Lisbon’s Jerónimos Monastery is to be beamed around the world live on Euronews.
The ceremony will include the presence of all 27 European Union Heads of State and will begin at 11.30am with speeches from the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Durão Barroso, the President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pottering, and the President of the European Council for the Rotating Presidency, José Sócrates.
The Treaty is to be signed at 12.15pm after which all 27 leaders of the European Union will pose before the world’s press for the traditional ‘family photograph’. The ceremony will be rounded off with a lunch at Lisbon’s Coach Museum.
