An afternoon of bright sunshine greeted the 14 teams taking part in the first Boxing Day Treasure Hunt at the Hotel Garbe in Armação de Pêra.
After a brisk walk around the town and a small excursion to the beach, the contestants returned to mince pies and drinks in the hotel bar.
Cap’n Whitebeard (Martin Binks) happily shared his treasure with the winners, Mary King and Mardie Cunningham, and also presented a mystery bottle to the team in second place before announcing that the event had raised nearly 200 euros for the charity Castelo de Sonhos in Silves.
