Tread the boards with the pros

The leads have been cast, the stage director appointed and the final preparations are being put in place for the upcoming world premiere of Churchill –The Musical, which will now take place a day earlier on October 1 (World Music Day).

However, some key positions still need to be filled and the writers of the show, Trevor Holman and Derek Ash, are looking for local residents to volunteer to fill these important roles.

“We are still looking for fit male and female dancers between the ages of 18 and 30 to be able to dance the Lindy Hop, although no previous experience of the dance is required as there will be instruction from a choreographer,” said Trevor Holman.

He added: “There are also various small non-speaking roles and roles with only a couple of lines for men and women, and also for children who are approximately three feet tall (one metre). The adults will also need to be able to sing as part of the chorus.”

For those who would rather be behind the scenes, the production still requires six stage hands, who will need to be strong and fit and able to follow instruction from the stage manager.

“Anyone wanting to take part will need to commit themselves for 10 shows, eight in the evening and two matinees from October 1 until October 8 with rehearsals everyday from September 23,” said Derek Ash.
