The Portuguese Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism (APAVT) anticipates that they will see reservations for ‘réveillon’ (New Year’s Eve) running at 35% in excess of numbers for 2021 – with prices higher between 10% and 15%. Asked by Lusa if this means a better year for the sector, in terms of travel bookings by agencies, Pedro Costa Ferreira, president of APAVT, said “clearly” – adding “maybe we will close the year with a very similar operation to 2019” (meaning a return to pre-pandemic levels, even though the country (and wider world) is in the grip of a cost-of-living crisis).
