I have only been a resident in the area since July and have just become aware of a somewhat disturbing practice. I have seen traps for small songbirds such as robins and wondered if this was legal? Is this a traditional thing?

Editor’s note: The Algarve Resident contacted the regional hunting federation regarding this situation. A spokesman said that using traps to catch birds or any other animal is illegal. People who witness an illegal action or have a problem with the proximity of hunters to their properties are encouraged to speak to the leader of the local association or contact the federation.
